There are two types of cancer of the liver conditions: primary and secondary. In case of primary cancer of the liver, the cells originate from the liver. It is cause because of hepatocellular carcinoma in the liver cells. Men who are in their late sixties are more susceptible to this type of cancer. There is one more type of primary cancer and it is known as cholangiocarcinoma and is commonly known as the cancer of the bile duct.
Secondary type of cancer of the liver originates from other parts of the body and spreads to the liver.
The main reason behind the cause of cancer of the liver is excessive alcohol consumption. Therefore one way to prevent cancer of the liver is to control these habits and if possible to totally avoid drinking alcohol if possible. Some other precautions to take are to avoid intake of illegal drugs or avoid activities, which can lead to hepatitis C infections like unprotected sex to avoid the risk of developing cancer of the liver.
The common symptoms indicative of liver cancer are abdominal enlargement, tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, extreme weight loss (without any dieting or exercise), fatigue, jaundice, and yellow discoloration of skin.
There are many factors, which can increase the risk of liver cancer, and these include age, sex, diabetes, and obesity. There are many diseases associated with obesity and one of them is liver carcinoma. It is therefore recommended that you should do regular exercise to avoid obesity.
